The request for adding beds in the game has already been put forward, so I'd like to expand on that to provide some functionality to them.
option a) entering Valhalla while stile alive
option b) having a dream
The way I envision dreams is a bit like the heroquests in King of the Dragon Pass. Should you do proper preparation (eat some magic mushrooms etc.), you'll be able to enter a dream.
A dream is basically a PVE instance with specific scenario. You enter with your character in the state you were when you went to sleep and return in the state you were before. So in that way, dreams are a safe place to experiment and do things you'd normally not try. Like fighting multiple opponents or fighting with a bow against humans. Or taking on a bear naked.
This would serve as a great way for new players to learn combat, as well as providing loftjorbtar an opportunity to break some of the conventions they have laid for the "vanilla H&H", for example having AI controlled humanoid NPCs you fight.
On grander scale you could even re-enact past events from the history of H&H, such as sieges, end of the world fights and stealing cheese. Once expanded, dreams could also incorporate more complex scenarios and and other players.

Re: Dreams
This would be really great, I loved that part of that game! You could even have the dreams be somewhat (but probably not totally) related to what the character has been doing lately, since this is (in principle) detected now with the exp system.Haba wrote: The way I envision dreams is a bit like the heroquests in King of the Dragon Pass.
It would be cool to have some prayers as a reward for completing the dream scenarios; less powerful than the einherjeraspekt of previous worlds for sure and possibly less obviously useful in a brute-force kind of way, but more entertaining and quirky.

Re: Dreams
Without otherwise commenting on the idea I shall confirm that Hero Quests were, indeed, an awesome thing in KoDP, which is generally a very awesome game.
