Annual Wandering Sage Complaint

Post by Regulus2424 »

In W16.2, level one of the Wandering Sage credo is "gain less travel weariness".

What travel weariness, Jorbtard? Was it really so fucking hard to think of instances that will be negatively affected by TW removal? You know what, maybe it was! But don't worry, this glaring oversight has been discovered by the community.

Surely you now will provide Wandering Sage with a different level one bonus

Eh the tw change is probably gonna get removed. You can still see the debuff you got on 16.1 from jumping tws, scaling the cost up, so I don't think it's supposed to be here to stay. (unless it does and then sage does need a fix lmao)

Is there a consensus that this change to travel wearness was good?
This, combined with RoB and group travel by thingwalls made the world feel way smaller.

No TW feels nice, but also kinda unearned and unbalanced.

Brodgar teleportation is a cool concept that the developers shat the bed with (boars and scorpions KO'ing people, alts stealing objects from carts, palisades at the border), it also trivialised looting during raids (make an alt on the spot, tp it to brodgar and give loot to another alt that will tp back to your base).

Thingwall discovery via party is good but it made me realize that this system needs additional QoL.

I like the thingwall discovery via party, it's the closest we had to a cartographer role in a while, though i wish there was an actual cartographer table thingy where hearthlings could share their map discoveries including thingwalls.

No travel weariness feels out of place, a bunch of stuff became much less useful because of it too, like Will, Pipestuff, Heartwood Leaves and Wandering Sage.

I don't like ring of brodgar teleport in general, it creates many problems and doesn't really do much.

Agree. Trading is just overpowered when it comes to normal game progression, it makes sense it should be a bit more effort to make happen. I remember in W10 I would straight find places on the world map, load up my shit and boat most of the way there to use the barter stands. It was generally enjoyable, took awhile but gave me something to do while in-game waiting on other things. Considering the amount of time-wasting exercises already in this game, I don't think travelling across the map was something that really needed to be so thoroughly streamlined.

Yea this is my problem with the RoB, it makes trade ridicilously easy. The whole world can trade which each others, which makes regions and locations kinda pointless and really incentives communicating through forums and other outside media. Which i downgrade hate in any game.
I wouldnt mind if RoB was spme neutral grounds for talking and such, but i dislike that you can use it to trade / move around the world. Maybe having RoB as a place you can teleport to as a spirit (like you have in character creator), without any inventory. Just a separate plane to talk to other random people, as i thought this is the intent if RoB.
