Credos Need Urgent fixing

Postby Field » Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:11 pm

Some credos are borderline unplayable due to how ridiculous things they need completed are. How to solve ad hoc. Remove turbo RNG factor from the credo quests, like experiencing some random events in credos like Mystic. Add ability to skip the quests instead of just abandoning them. Scale from the credo tier + *2 for each quest skipped during this credo.

The real long term solution:
Add similar system to numens quests in ancestry.
3 different tiers with different quests that progress us differently. Lowest tier quest progresses us normally like credos do now, mid tier completes 2-3 credo quests (or half of the needed quests for the next level), top tier moves us up by 1 credo level.

Different approach from the thread by ricky.

Explanation behind reasoning for this fix, here and here and here.

Similar thread here.
Other issues with credos similar to this:
- by shubla
- by displaced
- Experience a lore event by Amanda44 (huge effort, no progress)
- "Credo progression doesn't feel good" by Valnar

For example 4th credo, 40k LP (base needed to start it). The next quest you need to skip in this credo is 40k *2 LP. Skipping quests means just completing the one you're currently stuck at.
The next credo you start, 5th in this case would need 50k base LP to skip. The next quest you need to skip in this credo is 50k *2LP. I hope this paints a good picture of the proposed AD HOC solution.

Please.

5K is more reasonable
just think about the amount of credos you would have to skip!

Credos need to adopt the numen system.

two quest options: one hard, one easier, + skip -- hard gives +2 points, easier gives the normal +1 point, skip is -1 point

players would have the option of choosing which quest best suits their abilities and current situation.

perhaps your situation allows you to easily do a 'hard' quest (lets say.. mine iron vein and you have one available)
if not, the easy quest should be something anyone SHOULD be able to do for that credo (lets say... study cavedust)
if you cant do both, or dont want to, you can skip.

ideally the 'hard' quests should fast, but situationally difficult, and the 'easy' quests should be long, but easily doable under many/any circumstances.

Credos 100% fine imo no need to change. Having lots of fun with them and you just gotta learn how to bite the bullet and abandon if you're not in a realistic position to do it. The more advanced your position is the fewer the quests it will take, as it should be.

Certainly nothing urgent, at the very least.

You could at least make them scale a bit better based on certain factors such as length of time character has been alive, total LP, type of credo, etc. so that you aren't getting "Visit level 4 cave" in the first week for Quarryman or "Craft 20x Troll Belt and Deliver a Gold Bar to Fugmifase." shortly later on following other credos.

I seriously haven't understood the credo hate. Now that they've removed suiciding it seems to be functioning perfectly fine. Yes, sometimes things are ridiculously difficult, and that's when you skip. Other times they're ridiculously easy, and I don't hear anyone bitching about that.

The biggest problem I've found is that many of these quests are situationally difficult... Like having to harvest a chive in a place where chives are not a thing, nor near a place where chives are a thing. The cave level visits were a little crazy this early in the game, but in a few months (and for some people right now) it's simply not a problem.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
