Re: Distiller
Should definitely be distillers in the game, yes.

I shall have to do my best to remember them, then.

Re: Distiller
Plums would be sweet.
There's only one problem I see in this, a big problem. You're now basing a natural resource's quality on another natural resource: Clay, and sand.
Now here's the issue, sand is rare, very rare compared to clay in high qualities, as it stands the highest quality clay known is q90, the highest quality rumor'd to be around is q103. Water is around what q100, known? Soil I think is q110ish.
So now let's say that we ran by with Granger's idea for the stationary version, it'd be:
20 Bricks, 1 Bar Metal(copper), 40 Glass
Bricks = (Clay Q*3 + Board Q)/4
Glass = ( (Sand Q*2) + ClayQ + Board Q)/4
Copper = (Smelter Q + Charcoal Q/2
Asssuming it's the mix of all of these what you really end up with is...
( [((ClayQ*2) + ClayQ +BoardQ)/4 ] + [((Sand Q*2) + Clay Q + Board Q) /4] + [( [((ClayQ*2)+ClayQ+BoardQ)/4] + [((BoardQ*2)+ClayQ+BoardQ)/4] )/2]
Even if you could push Q200 boards but had Q90 clay and let's say Q70 Sand you'd end up with a Q123 Distiller, now the Distiller would effectively work like Cheese Trays used to is what I'm understanding so each run of it would raise the quality halfway to it's own but in turn do something like half the quantity of the water put in.
So let's say I start with Q80 water and the distiller mentioned and I need to reach the Q123 the Distiller can bring me to, or at least Q110.
Q80->101.5->112.2->117.6->120.3->121
After a certain point it becomes pointless yes, but let's say to get to 112 I need to do 2 divisions (from Q80), if it halves the Quantity and I need 10L of it, it'll take me 40L to start with. If I need Q120 water and it halves the Quantity, I'll need to tart with 160L
So since Q10 water is much more 'findable', what could I do with Q10 water and such a device?
Q10->Q66-> 94.75-> 108
You can get to 100 in 3 jumps with Q10 water, at that point it's ridiculous even if this would only be doable by the most advanced players it's quite ridiculous.
If the tool counted as much less than the water (Maybe 1/4 or 1/8) it'd be a bit more realistic, because even if the tools can only make let's say 1L at a time I'd have no reason to not have 20 or even 100 of these babies going at a time as opposed to finding water spots.
Now if someone could only propose a really good idea for soil quality as well

Fertilizers ftw?!DatOneGuy wrote: Now if someone could only propose a really good idea for soil quality as well
And as for the distillery, I meant using it for alcohol, not water. If you use it for alcohol, you don't need glass at all. My still is made out of iron or steel, not sure which (the oven part), copper (the cauldron, it's cap and the pipes leading to the cooling tank), while the cooling tank seems to be made out of tin or some light alloy like that cause I can lift the entire thing alone without too much effort. So no glass is required, you'd need fuel for the fire and I'd go for copper/tin for the entire apparatus.
And I think it's like...50L of grapes for about 10L of alcohol IRL. Of course, you can always distill the alcohol you just got to get it to be stronger, so we might think about that option too, increasing the q and all that...

What's missing there is that fuel is also consumed, and imho the q of the fuel should count (to make it expensive enough).
But yes, it should not be possible to get to insane water quality out of nothing.
Nevertheless, the ability to add some extra quality points to resources you can get would be nice.
Would be another option, but then i think it would be to cheap to make in massive numbers.Tacheron wrote:So no glass is required, you'd need fuel for the fire and I'd go for copper/tin for the entire apparatus.
Bottom line: Jorb noticed it and i'm confident that he and Loftar will be able to surprise us with something at some point.

Indeed, no point going into specifics as long as it's noted

Re: Distiller
everything is just like in real life.
For ages and centuries alchemists used distillers to make their chemicals (and water) more pure, and what? Some ppl with idea 'let's get drunk' come and whole idea turns to a brewery. Shame...
