Maybe a separate LP system? one for the economical part just like the actual LP system (modifications allowed of course) and one for the military skills based on military actions (Military LP increases only when fighting). So you can be good at both but not the best, every army must have a solid economic machinery supporting it and exclusively-warrior-players have to rely on other crafter-players.

You must remember at the beginning of the game you can't fight shit. Everything that can fight back rapes you. There's be no way to get ahead in fighting in that system, unless of course more animals were added with more weak ones for newbies to fight.

That wouldn't change anything. The people who grind up crazy skills are already doing it by hunting. Skills should instead come from items, ie stuff you can trade or steal.

To be honest, I think most of the insanely high lvl players just make a small automated mouse click program and let one guy dig 24/7 or so while 2 or 3 guys provide him with food.
