I'm not sure exactly how you're supposed to get leather in the first place, though, if you ever make it so they always run away. As loftar said, he caught one right away, and I'm not sure whether he meant after he shot it (read: he was being sarcastic) or not. If you can't catch them by chasing them in the first place, then how can you get leather to make a sling? Now, you can obviously make a bow, but what the hell, the sling is supposed to be a newbie weapon. I get that leather is probably the medium between crappy farm quality in general and what probably will now be better leather quality and the runaway quality of pre-W4 farming, but you already have a quality restriction in the farming now, so why did you make a simple newbie weapon so hard to make?

Ok I'm a little confused on something. You made changes so you actually had to fight animals on land without trapping them, or chase after them if you're slinging from a boat.

I get it. So I try it out. I find a fox, or a boar, and I start slinging until it runs away. Now in this situation I have two choices; wait for it to de-agro and search for it, but lose the LP I just gained doing that damage. Or chase after it. I don't want to lose the LP, so I chase after it.........and then I keep chasing it.....and then I run in to a tree and have to walk around and continue to chase it....and then I stop to drink from my waterflask because I can't run anymore....

I think you see where I'm going with this. If you're not on a terrain where you can sprint (e.g. forest, where you find boar, deer, bear!!!!), YOU CAN'T CATCH THEM!! Maybe you'll be fortunate for it to run in to something and it turns directly around, but this isn't the case every time.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or make a fix for this.

how can you get leather to make a sling?

Isn't a sling 5 pieces of string? Was that changed? I haven't done ranged yet in w4.

I think you see where I'm going with this. If you're not on a terrain where you can sprint (e.g. forest, where you find boar, deer, bear!!!!), YOU CAN'T CATCH THEM!! Maybe you'll be fortunate for it to run in to something and it turns directly around, but this isn't the case every time.

What you're doing wrong is not catching the boar. Seriously, I caught boars all the time in W3, though I haven't tried to yet in W4. If you run, that's the third fastest movement, you are faster than a boar, and you don't drain stamina that fast on forest. Better yet, work together with some friends to head them off or pin him against a wall or something.

Why would I go to the trouble of typing that post if I thought I was able to catch it my self.
