The small size was the key.

If devs filled the underworld with more content and worked on claims/sieges more it would be interesting to try that again, maybe on a test server, although they would need to alter the resource system to fit.

I liked W3 the best, because I learned much of the game, and it was kinda fun to start out weak. The politics was very organized, making an easy learning enviroment. But once I joined some factions, I learned more of the game, so I'm rather tied between W3, and W5, as W5 has been having a lot of raids and such.

Top soil would be even more important you'd have your entire residential areas underground. I personally like the idea but I'd like claims to go up and down mines/caves.

They could have a miniworld consisting of a supergrid-sized continent with a few outlying islands

night time was also pitch black almost as bad as a cave (you could see a little). Any one talking at night you couldn't see them most the time and you had to hope it was just a passer by.

Suffice to say. It even looked like a nuclear hit, at the starting zone.

People were not afraid of playing style this game intended to be played - sand-box. There were creative ambitions all around and idea-driven undertakings. There were a lot of juicy updates.

The bad things about w3 were lags, abandoned villages, campfire construction signs everywhere and ugly deforestation.
Agreed. Plus, the world was big (No idea if W5 is like W4 or W3 on that aspect, probably W4.), the animals weren't lethal, etc.
