It's not even a matter of "who's land it is" but rather who has control over the land. I'd happily have a gold mine with ten able warriors guarding it on your land than a broken down plow and dying horse, and ten warriors standing around playing dice, on my land.

If you had ten soldiers on ANYONE's land, you'd own it in some sense or another.
Surprise.

They at least think they do...

I lol'd at the truth behind this ^^...

Land is not the issue, its the uses it gives. To claim an area for something such as clay. It will fail due to the ease of accessibility. But please inform me, are you able to know who left a trespassing scent even though you can't track it. Like does it have a name, never seen one before so I don't know...

Seriously. Anyone can go collect it and the only way of really protecting it and claiming it for go is armed guards. Anyone willing to stand guard night and day over a patch of HQ Clay? I mean come on. Yes YAY its the highest known and found. Yay for you who now 'owns' it. But how much effort are you going to take to make sure it remains yours? Are you gonna stand guard???

By the way, are you gonna be 'selling' it to those that can't get there or are you gonna hog it and hope to catch those that can???

You can never see the name of the character that left a scent. You can always track a scent. The difference in scents is whether or not you can summon the character and kill it (if the person is offline) if/when you get to the perpetrators hearth fire. In the case of digging clay, it leaves a trespassing scent, which is not summonable.

It's not THAT goddamn difficult to wall off clay.

Just build a pallisade around it on the land side and boats on the other.

Someone will always need to leave a summonable scent to get the stuff.

Fill the whole claim with boats so there's no room on claim to put one down.

BOATS! BOATS EVERYWHERE!

Well, someone could just put the boats out in the deep water, which is probably claimed.

Look, what if someone just goes to the edge of the claim and digs up Q79 clay? Does the three point difference (or however many it is) really have a significant effect on the final quality of the product?
Surprise.
