Claim stakes on riversides. what for?

Post by mutilatoR »

Very often i see lone claim stakes on riverside, covering passageway or entire crossroad.

What is the purpose? if there is no villages or other life around.

I love when people do that, almost as good as when people build a kiln next to a river. Pretty much a billboard that says "RESOURCE HERE COME GET SOME!"

Best thing for you to do would be get trespassing and thievery and see if you
cant steal some higher quality dirt, water, or clay. If you already have those skills
though then go for it now if you know where some locations are... It can't hurt to check!

I don't recall, but does fishing leave vandal scents like digging dirt/clay? I don't think I've ever seen a fish node claimed over (the clay/dirt/water there... sure).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I have seen ppl taking very high Q mussels, and ofc claimed the whole area. I think this might be the reason to claim a fishing node?.
Idk if we leave scents, I dont recall either.

If you are gonna go steal from one of this claims, beware that vandal scents are summonable and stay there for 4 real days.
Maybe you want to try making an alt for this task, and leave its HF far from your home so you are not tracked.

If the node is high enough just digging from the last unclaimed tile can get you some good stuff for early game - I built my first kiln this world from 38q clay at the edge of someones claim. :D

I took a few pieces most days so as not to deplete it or make them aware of what I was doing. Tbh, I always thought they were silly to leave it unclaimed, later on in game that node was littered with scents and quite a few dead bodies alligned the shores. So, w/e you do, do it carefully. :)
