Please stop trail porting during combat

Post by overtyped »

It really annoys me when my friends down at dis have to lose out on several kills, because of signporting in combat. Please fix.
Example A: viewtopic.php?f=43&p=579039#p579039
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Someone is in combat with you. Your being hit with a sword in the butt.
But suddenly your progress bar completes and you escape away back to the hole you came from!

Probably not a good place in PVP.

Anyone can use signpost to purse.

If there was no end post and we used waylaid to escape then yeah its kinda dumb, but that wasn't even the case. Git gud.

Image I think it adds an interesting dynamic to the game, it's slower than the ridiculous hearthfire port timer and you can follow, so I don't really see the problem.

I thought it was because they were too paranoid/afraid to follow on the trail.

Seems fine to me since you can follow down the port- unlike hearthfires.

For people saying it's fine. It is not. If someone manages to port away with a sign post, they can immediately end combat and hearth home to safety since they're both so far away combat will break and hearthing is much faster than using a sign post.

If you're going to allow signpost usage in combat, you may as well just allow hearthing in combat but make it take 2 seconds longer. Because they're the same thing.

Combat doesn't break from distance immediately, there's enough time to port with them as well

The only problem would be if one guy had waylaid and the others didn't. That's why i want there to be "permanent waylaid" (You can port from any trail post any time) but that's probably a subject for another thread.

+1 remove travel option if in combat.

Some reasons:
If you follow the fleer, you are subject to waiting for the game to render after porting, leavingyou open to death before you load in.

Not to mention the ~5 seconds it takes to use the sign post, the person using it first has a significant advantage of escapin... since only one person can use the travel option at a time. aalso givingthem time to drop combat and hearth or run in any direction before the pursuer can follow and ttrack
