I'm not sure it is, but it seemed worthwhile to try, at least. I'm not thrilled about how the curiosity system works fundamentally, so I don't mind experimenting with it.
Honestly you have all the wears backwards. The expensive longterm items should have low max wear so that you can choose between spending (expensive) resources like gold or silver or study further at reduced LP.
Right now its a no brainer. All the quick ones have really low wear. 1 cycle of dragonfly and its down to 75% lp? Put new one in. Bat wing down to 80% after 1 cycle? new one. 10 wear on 2h feather trinket? new one. Literally nothing changed, just gotta add a few more lines to the autostudy script.
