happiness

Post by killerdynamo »

I don't know if this has been considered before, you could make happiness change your LP learning rate, say 100% happy = +20% learning and 100% unhappy = -20% learning. I think this makes sense because if you enjoy what you're doing you're more likely to take something useful away from it.

The only problem I see with making this change (not that I've thought out all of the implications) is that there aren't many things that alter your happiness yet.

Intriguing idea; the activities that affect happiness could be reflective of the character build. For instance, mining should make a full industry build type happy full nature plants a smile on the farmer's face (pun intended). Politicians lose happiness if the community is generally unhappy, stuff like that.
And a solo player or any character in Mordor should be happy just to be alive. ;)

happiness should be tied to your forum account and it should lower with each successive post you make

And rise with each troll post you make?

sounds like a bad plan.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

I'm kind of against happiness, if only because I feel it's my character, and if he happens to hate killing animals and loves communing with the fields, that's my decision and he shouldn't have -100% happiness because he's doing what he "likes".
Surprise.

If happiness is linked to beliefs, you are deciding what your character likes.
